about
Our own interpretation of 'Sea Song'.
Rather than a cover this an homage to the creator of this iconic song: Robert Wyatt.
A quote from Andrea Gotskind Hamad about it:
'Carla, Pascal, this is amazing. I am so picky about this song, hypercritical about versions other than Robert's - and this is just perfect. Enough similarities to the original, but both of you adding the touches that make it uniquely yours.'
And a quote from Mr Wyatt himself:
"Andrea, its amazing! Please thank them for their originality AND conscientiousness [so tricky, that, getting it right and making it yr own at the same time]. lotslove and thanks so much for the suggestion~"

Imagine that Captain Beefheart disbanded the Magic Band straight after Trout Mask Replica and then slipped off into the desert. By some freak of nature that I can’t explain, he returns to 2021 having magically transformed into a French woman. In this new guise she captures a band of improvising musicians and imprisons them in a recording studio. They will not be released until total weirdness has been achieved. And they succeed. Fast and bulbous indeed. John Coldwell

Mary Halvorson is a genius composer and guitarist who has developed her own musical language, and with Code Girl she has incorporated poetry into that language. Incredible compositions and lyricism (each track is a different kind of poem). Halvorson's playing is as great as usual, and all the other members of the band sound great. Robert Wyatt's singing in particular works extremely well in the tracks he's featured. Highly, highly recommend. rat
Tasmanian guitarist Julius Schwing embraces the visceral sounds of finger playing, incorporating them into his experimental guitar work. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 8, 2022

I cant explain why I love this album, but I can say with reasonable certainty that I do. Canterbury insanity combined with pure creativity, topped off with hard prog here and there. Grievous Swoons
