melting in his burning tears

Half of me is travelling
nostalgic lands
Past times playgrounds
and unknown states
with no trace of a forthcoming end
Half of me is picturing
a future
where a sand castle
with a roof made of shells
becomes a concrete shelter
Me, half-self and I
or is it a 'you' that 'me' ?
looking way behind
when I'm half asleep
looking forward
when I'm half awake
Half of me is travelling
nostalgic lands
one foot ready to land
the other glued
on a night train berth
Half of me pulling
the alarm signal
giving temporary birth
to some entire me
a future
where a sand castle
becomes a concrete shelter

Imagine that Captain Beefheart disbanded the Magic Band straight after Trout Mask Replica and then slipped off into the desert. By some freak of nature that I can’t explain, he returns to 2021 having magically transformed into a French woman. In this new guise she captures a band of improvising musicians and imprisons them in a recording studio. They will not be released until total weirdness has been achieved. And they succeed. Fast and bulbous indeed.
